Tips to free up your storage space on Windows

You may also want to download a disk space analyzer like Space Sniffer, which is able to scan your drive and show all the files in an interface for you to easily view what is taking up the most storage.

Search for files that go unused

Removing copied files from your system will recover a lot of space if you only have a few large files found. However, without PowerShell scripts or searching for the files through File Explorer, Windows will not make it convenient to look for duplicate files. Some places you may get back some storage space include mobile backups of your phone or tablet, files for unused web browsers, drive images and files on old operating system, emails stored locally, file conversion software with media files placed in different locations, tools that update your drivers automatically, cloud storage software with files stored in a local system that you can remove, which can be replaced by using Dropbox Files offering over 1 Gigabytes for free, unused virtual machine and temporary folders everywhere, which can be found through File Explorer.

Move media files and software to another drive

Similar to scanning for junk files with Disk Cleanup or CCleaner, transferring big videos or similar files to another storage device is not an easy task at all.

Moving Steam games to another drive is also more complicated than duplicating a single file or folder and in spite of the fact that third-party software was once asked for the task, Steam now enables users to store games on a wide variety of drives.

You can navigate by steam, settings, downloads and steam library folders, then you make a new Steam library folder on the new drive, click on an already downloaded game in your Steam library and visit Properties, Local Files tab, Move install folder, Choose the directory and finally you opt for Move folder. That’s all for the process to be done.
